Follow the yellow brick road

Just got back from "The Wizard of Oz" traveling Broadway show - excellent! It is amazing how many different speakers and performances come to campus (We get a taste of almost everything)

Toto was even a real dog. Every time he would enter the stage the whole audience would go "ahhhhhhh"

Somewhere Over the Rainbow is stuck in my head...at least it is a good song! In case you forgot the words, I thought I would share them with you.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.

Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

i'm sorry...

Okay, I know! I have been a TERRIBLE blogger! I have heard it from a few of you...so here I am ready to fill you in on my life.

Life never seems to slow down. The end of the semester stress has taken a toll on me. However, my 10 page paper that I worked on over Thanksgiving break is almost complete, which results in a happy me!

On Tuesday I headed home to good Ole' Poky to spend time with the family. On Thanksgiving day we went to Sioux Falls to spend the holiday with my Aunt Deb & Uncle Jake. It has become tradition to do Black Friday shopping the next day. However...this year was a bit different. WE DIDN'T SLEEP! We went out shopping at midnight and did not return til 7 AM. That made for one tired and crabby Angela Wasko. I think I'm over Black Friday shopping. I don't like the anxious crowds. Here is the group at around 11:48 PM!

Last night I got together with some of my high school girlfriends. We went out to eat and then to a fundraiser for our friends, Brandon. He has cystic fibrosis and has been in and out of the hospital a lot.

I saw a lot of people I haven't seen in years, including one of my friends from Catholic School, Kaitie Schoening. She actually had a baby! I was so excited to see that little guy! He is a happy little baby with pretty blue eyes.

Here is to a productive and fulfilling week! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Japanese Dinner!

I had my Japanese conversation partners over for dinner on Saturday. I told them earlier in the year that I would cook an American dish for them and they could cook a Japanese dish for me. Well, they decided to make about four different dishes. The smells and tastes were...different :) It was a good cultural experience.

The girls always make me smile. They are so generous and thoughtful. They always make sure to serve each other food before serving themselves. I think the American culture lacks this.

Ready for a two day week - then its Home Sweet IOWA!

Ohh..by the way Natty and I put up the Christmas tree on Thursday and decorated the rest of the house!

motivation where are you?

Seeking motivation. I seem to have lost it and can't find it.

Could it be that the end of the semester is near? Yes.

Could it be that I am growing tired of my same routine? Yes.

Could it be that I suffer from SAD? (Season affective disorder. A mood disorder in which people who have normal mental health throughout most of the year experience depressive symptoms in the winter.) Most likely. I love summer.

I am trying to appreciate life and the beauty it brings. I just seem to be struggling for a bit.

Best part of my day: I got a 95% on my media plan project that I had been working on since September. Hurray! 27 pages of hard work paid off!

going, going, going...GONE

Go Bearcats! Headed down to KC with friends to cheer on the Bearcats to another victory! Each year NW plays Pitt State at Arrowhead Stadium (where the Chiefs play) We tailgated before, but spent most of the time in the car because it was cold out!

Natalie, Ashley, and I left after the 3rd quarter to beat traffic. We were heading to Omaha for the night.

Natalie offered me a ticket to see "How The Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical" with her. How could I pass that up?!? I LOVE musicals! I would much rather watch a musical than a football game any day... :)

We got to Omaha at around 8 PM and met up with her parents to go out to eat for her dad's birthday.

The next day we woke up and did some power shopping. I have not bought clothes since AUGUST! That is by far the longest I have ever gone. I was going to try and make it a year, but lets be realistic...that is impossible. The Grinch was A-MAZING! Ohh, did I mention our seats were in the front row? You could hear each individual voice, every facial expression, every blink of the eye. I LOVED IT!

Don't worry, I didn't break the law and take pictures during the show..I got it off the Internet. But this is exactly what it looked like. The costumes were amazing, the dancing was phenomenal, and there was even snow during the last song.

We got back late last night and I had to wake up early this morning to go to AAF-KC Career Day in KC. It was a great way to network with a lot of business professionals and see what internship and job opportunities are available.

I enjoy going to workshops/conferences/career days, but after them I am exhausted. It is mentally draining. It stresses me out thinking about my future. I have no idea where my life will be in six months, but that's okay.

One thing that really strikes me is how many of the professionals say "be good at one thing." Just one. Focus on it. That's it. That is all you will get to do.

No! I have so much I want to do and I feel that I posses so many different attributes. I know that you can't do everything, but I at least want a job that has variety.

Now I am completely exhausted. I just want to sleep. Good night. Wake me up when it is Christmas.

Missing them

Missing these people.
And these sights.
Did you thank a Veteran?
I did!
This picture was taken at the WWII Memorial in Washington DC during training for my internship with Citizenship Washington Focus.

Lest we forget..

Almost forgot about these pictures I took of the boys two Saturdays ago. Dave and Ryan were ripping shingles off the sun room at their house. I went over and told them I needed a picture for the blog. I love this first one.

I was even brave enough to climb up on top of the roof...in my Sperry's...

I love that it is light when I wake up, but not so sure of this getting dark so soon. It makes me sleepy. Are you adjusting?

P.S. Someone was watching over me this evening at 6:30 PM. Abby and I had just got done working out and were on our way back home when a huge BUCK ran in front of my car! I slowly tapped my brakes (my dad has always told me to never slam the brakes in situations like this) I envisioned my car being ruined and his antlers being shoved into my face. However, there was no damage. I was just shook up for some time after. Someone up above was definitely watching over me...

Pumpkin Waffles & Spaghetti Bolognase

Oh, how I love to cook (and so do my friends)!!! On Saturday, Abby came over and we made pumpkin waffles and banana bread!

In this picture you can see that Abby put too much batter in the first time around. Bryce and Ryan came over to help us eat the waffles. Unfortunately, Ryan is allergic to pumpkin! How sad....

This evening my friend Rob came over and made us his speciality - spaghetti bolognase. It was delicious! We even opened a bottle of champagne. Bryce is the one all dressed up. He came over after his music concert in his Tower Choir concert clothes.
(He looks like he is working in a restaurant in this picture) :)

I can't believe the weekend is over. I should have done more homework. Looks like I will be spending a lot of time in the library the next couple days...

Hopefully you now have an idea of what my kitchen looks like!

PRSA Day

4:35 AM

Alarm goes off.

Time to get up and get ready to go to Kansas City for Public Relations Society of America Day.

It is a day long conference held for students studying PR and any other related field. The event was held at the Kansas City Zoo.

We had to leave early in order to make the opening ceremony. It was an exhausting, enriching, and informative day. The keynote speaker was the director of communications for Southwest Airlines.

Here is the group of students that went from NW. There is no way I'm going out tonight. I am watching Oprah on DVR and the Backstreet Boys are singing "I want it that way"

My day is now complete.

SUCCESS!

My first lecture series was a complete success! Look at all of those people! Jamie, from TWLOHA was probably one of the nicest guys I have ever met in my life. He took the time to talk to every individual who wished to speak with him during the meet & greet. I keep smiling thinking about how well last night went. The director of campus activities came up to me today and said that she heard my lecture was a huge success last night! It was a rush of 'warm fuzzies.' I am so thankful that all of my hard work paid off. I am so thankful that I have the privilege to fulfill the job responsibilities. These people trust ME to spend $62,000.00!

Here I am with Jamie, the founder of TWLOHA, and Steven from Satellite. Steven played music before the lecture began.
The last picture is of my dining room (continuing on with the house pictures)
Hope you are all having a great day! I'm heading to the nursing home at 3 to visit with elderly folks for a group project.

Room of Living...

Check out my living room! Pretty nice, huh? That leather couch is where you can usually find me on Sunday afternoons taking a nap.

Tomorrow my is my first SAC Lecture of the school year. I am responsible for bringing in well known people to talk to NW students. Tomorrow we have the founder of TWLOHA. To Write Love on her Arms is a non-profit group dedicated to help with depression, anxiety, and suicide prevention. Say a prayer that everything runs smoothly (It should!)

Just got done with yoga and pilates. Working out gives me a high. I love it.

Look inside my home

Most college students live in old rental homes or beaten up apartments. My living situation is not like most college students. I live in luxury.

I am very blessed and fortunate to be living in this 3 bedroom 1.5 bathroom, Cape Cod style home. It is the cutest home in my opinion. My roommates parents bought it last May and completely furnished it.

And when I say they completely furnished it, I truly mean it.

Want to see what the inside looks like? Guess you will have to keep visiting my blog to see... :)
