My projects

I guess it is about time for me to show my projects... the first one I will reveal is my dresser. I actually got it for free from our neighbor. I washed it down 2x with TCP or TPC (which one was it mom?) I think TPC...TCP sounds like a drug...

My mom and I found this really neat paint at Menards that has a metallic glaze to it. I picked out pearly white. I primed it first and then painted it 3x to get the look and texture I was wanting. The handles were old and ugly, so I went to Hobby Lobby and picked pink ones out. All together the handles cost me around $12. I love how it turned out!

Here is what it looked like before...and after. I purchased the mirror for $20 at a flea market in St. Joe. It was originally black, but I just painted it the same as my dresser.

weekend

Is tomorrow already Monday?

On Friday night I had my Japanese conversation partners over for dinner. They both told me that they were homesick... so I thought I would invite them over for some food and to meet some of my 'American' friends. We all had a blast! They had a lot of fun and kept asking me if they could come over again for more 'house party'

Yuko is on the left and Mitsuyo is on the right.

Saturday morning I got up and cleaned the house and then went to work at ambassadors. On Sat. night we went and hung out at Dave and Ryan's house.

Today consisted of homework, church, grocery shopping, and bawling my eyes out watching The Last Song...I love Nicholas Sparks books! Here is to another week!

let the birthday's begin...

Perfect way to end the day - celebrating Melanie's 21st Birthday! She is one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet! A group of friends and I went out to celebrate her 'legalness'...is that a word? Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

distractions...

Happy Day of Rest!

Goal for the day: accomplish homework
Check.

However...it took me way too long. I had so many distractions. Facebook, twitter, blogging, texting, napping, daydreaming, YouTube videos of the Hanson brothers (i know, really?!?) calling people, you name it, I pry did it.

But it is all done :)
with love,

i love having a house!

The best part of my year so far is the fact that I live in a house. I have my own room that is always clean and organized, my own space, and best of all a kitchen! Ohhh how I have missed cooking!

I decided to have some of my friends over on Saturday night to get together! I made this chicken recipe my sister/mom gave me, cheesy potatoes, and deviled eggs. I have been craving them for so long and decided to finally make them.
From left to right me, Rosalind (from Marshall, MO) Carolyn (in red from Omaha,NE) Melanie (from St. Joe, MO) and Abby (from Philadelphia, MO) They are all great girls and we had so much fun! We even played a little trick on our neighbors.
Today I went to Mozingo Lake and laid out with Carolyn and Abby. Hopefully I got a little bit of sun! :) Happy Labor Day!

overwhelmed...

It is only the fourth day of classes and I am already overwhelmed. This week has been full of meetings, information sessions, classes, work, and everything else. It just makes me realize that I need to dedicate an hour of 'me' time. It is a way for me to debrief and relax.

Tonight was our first home football game. I wasn't going to go, but then someone said to me "you're in college, come on" ... even though I had a paper to write. I went for a bit after my SAC meeting. I hung out with my friend at his fraternity house. Before every game they shoot off a canon and when NW makes a touchdown.
