all that i'm after is a life full of laughter

If this picture doesn't make you laugh...I don't know what will.

I arrived in DC last night at 10:00 PM and was greeted by Jake Johnson, a former PA. We took metro home and then took a taxi the last mile. I woke up today, hung around, worked out, went and saw my old boss from last summer and then studied for my night view.

Molly, my boss from last summer asked if I would be willing to do a night view tour tonight. I agreed and had the BEST time. My group was a high school group from Minnesota. Their leader, Vince, was so friendly and had just returned from a tour in Iraq. Great kids who were very interested in everything I had to say. My bus driver was...ehhh... lets just say not the greatest, but I managed. Good thing I have my father's sense of direction ;)

DC is as beautiful as it was last summer. And as humid.

There are so many people living in the house right now. I am trying to learn names but I think it will take a while. My roommates are from Arizona and Colorado.

Best wishes,

Angela

my momma

I love her. She is my number one fan and my number one supporter. I don't know what I would do without her.
We went to The Chocolate Season today in Algona and had strawberry crumb cake and a chocolate muffin...so yummy!!!

My Daddy

My dad is the greatest guy ever. He can carry on a conversation with anyone at any time. He loves animals and treats them like royalty. He is always thinking about the next generation. I can't even count how many trees he has planted in his life time. This Saturday, when I leave my daddy will turn 54! I was looking through old pictures and found this one of him and I on the day I was born. You can just see in his face how proud he is of me.
My dad has the best smile and best laugh in the world. I love him so much and thank God for him everyday.

PS I think I look a lot like my dad in this picture, maybe I am more Wasko than Kerkvliet...

Thank a Vet

Happy Memorial Day! Every year we always go to West Bend, IA to the Memorial Day services in honor of my Grandpa Wasko and other vets. Last summer, whenever I was at the WWII memorial I would always find a veteran and talk to him. To see the emotion from the men is indescribable. I would also thank them for their service. It is the best feeling in the world to see them smile back at you.
When I was in Arizona at the beginning of the month visiting my great Uncle Dennis, we pulled out his WWII book. The memories began flooding his mind and his mouth couldn't speak fast enough. These men will only be here for so long, it is important that we hear their stories.

The quilt..

As soon as I got home from Arizona I had my mind set that I wanted to make a quilt. A quilt that wouldn't have meaning behind it. Every other quilt of mine has sentimental value and therefore I don't use them...they are sitting in my cedar chest. I wanted to make a quilt that I could take to college, use as a throw, and snuggle up with. So, I went to Hobby Lobby and picked out some bright fun fabric and began cutting the fabric. I worked on this quilt night and day because I was determined to get it done ASAP ( I really don't know why, I just like finishing projects fast)
4 days later..I completed it! I am so proud of it and LOVE it! It is just what I wanted.

Quilting

I have been home for a week now. I decided that I wanted to make a quilt! So... I went to Hobby Lobby and picked out some material! I have been slaving away on it.. it should be done tomorrow!

Oh and I will be interning with Make-a-Wish Foundation this summer in Bethesda, Maryland (right outside of DC) I am so excited and thankful for the wonderful opportunities God has blessed me with!
